Accessibility training

OAJ has partnered with data journalist and accessible journalism expert Emilia Ruzicka .

Ruzicka and chief of editorial Stacy Kess have developed training courses that focuses on how to implement accessibility practices in a news setting, including:

• How to write alt text for news and sports photos, infographics, and other data images.
• Understanding, writing, and editing closed captions, transcripts, and other supportive non-media text for video and audio.
• How to make your website friendly to screen reader users, keyboard navigators, and other alternative navigators.
• How to make your newsroom an accessible work environment.
